Angie Boyer, Editor, craft&design choses her Five Favourites at Made by Hand, Cardiff 2017

There is just 7 days until Made by Hand opens its doors at Cardiff's City Hall. You can meet 150 of the UK's most inspirational makers from across Wales & the rest of the UK.

We asked a number of curators, journalists and influencers to share their 5 Favourites from Made by Hand. Our final 5 Favourites comes from Angie Boyer, Editor of Craft & Design, we hope you enjoy her selections and see you next week in Cardiff.

Fauxidermy - Handmade Textile Taxidermy Animal Heads and Full Bodied Sculpture

A great name for a great idea! The sculptures are fabulous and I love the little stories and anecdotes that Helly Powell tells about the Welsh folklore, myths and legends that inspire her work. Lovely to see these endearing pieces being created with such skill and originality.

Williams Handmade - Handmade Leather Accessories

Sarah Jane Williams is absolutely one of the most talented and skilled leatherworkers I've come across. The iconic and intriguing sculptural shapes and forms of her earlier pieces won some enviable and well deserved awards, her current work is a perfect balance of form and colour, all expertly crafted.

Anne Morgan - Contemporary jewellery in silver and gold

Anne is a well established, award winning jewellery designer maker who, through the techniques she uses, enhances the natural properties of the materials she works with. The results are stylish and unique, I particularly like her 'Coast' collection which incorporates natural materials to great effect.

Anvil Forge Blacksmithing - Artistic architectural hand forged metalwork.

Anvil Forge Blacksmithing is run by Ross and Annie Smith. I love the fact that they are able to skilfully create almost anything in wrought iron, from grand sets of gates and balustrades, to handy little bottle openers and napkin rings - something for everyone, whether contemporary or traditional in design.

Jeremy James - Ceramic, animals and people

I have long admired Jeremy's work, each of his sculptures has such life, expression and personality in it. A hare has been a regular visitor to our garden in recent weeks, I think it probably has ambitions to take up residence in our veg patch - it's the image of one of Jeremy's alert and inquisitive hares!

See you in Cardiff next week
