11.30 - 1pm Masterclass: Millinery Inspiration and Technique with Sarah Cant
In this illustrated talk, couture milliner Sarah Cant will explain and demonstrate the inspirations and techniques used to create her sculptural handcrafted hats and headpieces.
12.30- 1.15pm Talk : Piecing the Past: The Wrexham Tailor's Coverlet by Elen Philips, Curator of Costume & Textiles at St Fagans: National History Museum.
Discover the story of James Williams, a military tailor from Wrexham, who spent a decade meticulously stitching a patchwork coverlet during his leisure hours. Elen Phillips, Curator of Costume & Textiles at St Fagans: National History Museum, will reveal the fascinating history behind its making. InThe Gilt Room.
1.30-2.15 Talk: Ceramics in Wales....An Expanding Field. with Ingrid Murphy, subject leader, Ceramics and Artist, designer : maker at Cardiff Met University. In the Gilt Room.
2pm-4pm Workshop : Felted Beads, Balls and Bangles with Anne Rogers. Explore the basics of felt jewellery making in this workshop where you will learn to felt exquisite coloured shaped beads, balls and bangles and take home some beautiful pieces to co-ordinate with your favourite outfit.
2pm-4pm Workshop : Coloured Cushion Covers with Jenny Bicat. Make a multi-colour pattern on a fabric panel. Build up a design from simple shapes to create maximum colour interaction. You will use heat-pressed paper, cotton thread hand painting, and simple printing techniques.

11am-1pm Workshop : Embroider & Embellish a Brooch or Bookmark * with Virginia Hole. Creating a stitched brooch or bookmark using felt, fabric fragments, beads and texured hand embroidery stitches. Ref: J104
11am-1pm Workshop : Button People * with Kate Swindley. Make little button people, they can be various sizes and can be used as handbag or phone charms, keyrings or tree ornaments. Ref: J105
1pm-1.45pm Talk: Laura Thomas, woven textile artist and Creative Wales ambassador will talk about her work. In The Gilt Room.
2pm-4pm Workshop: Make an item of Feltwork Jewellery * with Rachel Fieldhouse Booth -This tutor makes her own felt and has some great ideas for all kinds of motifs and jewellery items. Ref: J106
2pm-4pm Workshop : New Treasure Beads for Pandora style bracelets* with Kate Swindley Ref: J120

1pm-1.45pm Talk: The Art of Conservation with Clare Stoughton-Harris, Conservator, National Trust (South Wales)
2pm-4pm Workshop : Elegant Christmas Decorations with Liz Lippiatt and Kathryn Clarke. Design and cut stencils for clean and stylish fine linen Christmas decorations. Stitch and embellish or fill with lavender for the most tasteful and unusual Christmas gift.
2pm-4pm Workshop : Make an embellished wallet or pouch with Sarah Pearson Cooke. Explore a range of resist dye techniques including heat transfer dyes and appliqué. Create a stylish and modern accessory to fit your gadgets or carry your travel cards.
All workshops and masterclasses will be held in the Servants Hall. The Talks are in the Gilt Room. Masterclasses & Talks are Free, no booking is required.

MADE BY YOUNG HANDS - FREE CHILDREN'S CRAFT WORKSHOPS 2012 in association with Llantarnam Grange Arts Centre

Llantarnam Grange Arts Centre, the regional centre for the applied arts in South East Wales, will be running hands on sessions giving young people the chance to explore creative ideas. The drop in sessions provide an opportunity to create mixed media craft works based on the work of exhibiting artists. All work Made by Young Hands can be taken away on the day as a memento or as a special Christmas gift.

Tredegar House is just two miles west of Newport city centre. Follow signs brown heritgae signs from the A48. If you approaching on the M4, exit at junction 28. It is a very short drive from junction 28.
Train: the nearest railway station is Newport, South East Wales.
Local bus services: Service 30 operates via Cardiff Road and then the A48, stopping opposite Cleppa Park. It is a 5 minute walk from there to Tredegar House.
Service 36 operates via Cardiff Road and Duffryn, with a number of stops just a 5 minute walk to Tredegar House.
Air: 25 miles to Cardiff Airport, 40 miles to Bristol International Airport
